Media content of TED Talks in the context of EFL is a way to improve students’ speaking skills

Abstract

Technological  advances  have  contributed  to  the  rapid  growth  of  media, 
especially  as  a  textbook.  Today,  teachers  and  educators  need  to  be  innovators  in  finding  and 
using creative, innovative and media tools in the classroom. This is not without its demands,  as 
the use of technology in the millennium has become a necessity for teachers in teaching English. 
This study aims to discuss how videoconferencing called TED Talks can be helpful in improving 
students'  conversational skills. The methodology used qualitative research and data collection 
from  relevant  paper  articles  that  explored  TED  Talks  as  a  learning  tool  to  improve  speaking 
skills. The results of this discussion article showed that TED Talks help improve speaking among 
EFLs and also motivate teachers and students to always be upbeat, inspiring and understanding. 
A new concept in this study, TED Talks, is changing the way students look and feel as they can 
confidently speak English in public with people from any country and ethnic group.
